In today’s episode I share my conversation with the uncancellable, unfuckwithable, unbreakable Clementine Morrigan. Clementine is a writer, zinester, podcaster, and literary punk based in Montreal, Canada. She is well known for her unflinching approach to deep and difficult topics including (but not limited to) surviving incest and other forms of trauma, trauma informed polyamory, bisexual women’s sexuality, opposing cancel culture on the left, and finding compassionate, non-punitive approaches to ending the cycle of violence.
In this episode we get into:
Taking on the role of “cycle breaker” within a family line
How childhood sexual abuse and incest impact every member of the family structure and clarifying what “counts” as sexual abuse
The long term physical, emotional, mental, relational, sexual, and spiritual impacts of childhood sexual abuse
Clementine’s 11 years in Alcohols Anonymous and why she eventually left the program
Working with plant medicines to heal the deepest layers of childhood sexual abuse that burrow into our bodies, minds, and spirits
The rampant trend of feminist scholars who didn’t protect their own daughters from sexual violence
The right for childhood sexual abuse survivors to NOT end up in the sex industry
This episode is dedicated to late and beloved poet, Andrea Gibson, who spoke openly and courageously about their own experience as a childhood sexual abuse survivor in their writing. As a CSA survivor myself, this conversation holds a very special place in my heart. My highest prayer is that it touches all those who are asking to receive this medicine in their hearts.
