In today's solo episode I go deep into my beautiful, intense, insane, and highly non-recommended path with the medicine of yagé (aka the Colombian brew of ayahuasca). After sitting in hundreds of ceremonies over the past 4+ years, living in the jungle full-time for 1.5 years, and seeing all sides--the good, the bad, and the ugly--of this medicine, I have quite a few thoughts that I feel can be supportive to those who may be considering walking with this plant at some point in their lives...
In this episode I get into:
How I first found my way to ayahuasca at age 24 and why my path escalated as quickly as it did
The reality of walking this path as a woman and how lucky I was to find safe male elders to learn under
The dangers of mixing different plant medicines and lineages
The importance of working with safe and loving elders who walk with integrity
Why I don’t recommend that people follow the path that I walked with this medicine (even though I am grateful for all that I experienced with it)
My mixed feelings about ayahuasca retreat centers
Who is the kind of person that I feel can benefit from working with this plant
This episode is dedicated to my late and beloved teachers, abuelo Querubin and abuela Maria. My path with this medicine would not be what it is if I had not met them. My highest prayer is that the teachings that they passed onto me can have a positive impact, in small or big ways, for all those who come across this episode. My story is also partially their story and I am forever grateful for all of the trust, care, love, and orientation that they continue to offer me from the stars.
Enjoy!
